FAQs > How it works?

What are offset credits?

Offset credits are used to compensate for environmental outputs. They are increasingly popular among corporations and organizations wanting to improve their environmental impact.

Renewable energy is a great example. When it’s not feasible for a company to invest in its own solar, or wind, projects, it buys green credits to offset carbon-emitting energy usage with a renewable source. Many companies - including us at REBO - buy carbon credits of this nature to be Carbon Neutral. In other words, to offset the amount of Carbon that our existence generates.

What are Plastic Avoidance and Collection Credits (PACC)?

Giving the growing threat of ocean plastic pollution, REBO offers a solution for minimizing plastic-footprints. Our take on offset credits are called Plastic Avoidance and Collection Credits (PACC), these provide an incentive for REBO users not to generate more plastic (Avoidance), and fund the collection of already existing plastic waste (Collection).

Technology embedded in REBO Bottles allows plastic savings to be 3rd party certified by the Gold Standard, ensuring the impact and credit-worthiness of environmental projects. Issuing PACC enables us to continuously fund ocean-clean up efforts.

I lost my bottle, how do I connect a new one to the app?

To do this follow the next steps:

1) Open your rebo app
2) Go to settings
3) Scroll down and click on "Disconnect Bottle"
4) The home screen will appear and you just need to click on "Connect" and follow the steps on how to connect your new REBO.

If you need further assistance please contact us on hello@rebo-bottle.com.

How can REBO afford to fund bottles continuously?

The Gold Standard certification process reconciles data collected by the REBO bottle with the number of Plastic Avoidance and Collection Credits (PACC) REBO can issue and get sponsorship for. Our ability to continuously generate a trustworthy source of credits allows our sustainable business model to support itself.

Does REBO pay for the collection of plastic?

Yes, REBO pays in advance for plastic collections and then it attempts to cover the cost by selling PACCs. The proceedings of the sale of PACCs are entirely used for funding plastic collections with no commission whatsoever to REBO. In the case of not fully covering the cost, REBO pays for it, always maintaining the 1 bottle drunk, 1 bottle collected promise.

Additionally REBO sponsors plastic waste awareness/education campaigns through its partner Project Rescue Ocean.

REBO is also a proud member of “1% for the planet”, the international network of businesses that commit to donate the 1% of gross sales directly to environmental nonprofits. To date “1% for the planet” has invested over $250 million in environmental solutions (to find out more visit ourcertification page
